How GeneratorRuntime Verifies Generator Specs
For each model we record information the manufacturer publishes: running watts, starting or peak watts, fuel capacity, fuel-specific ratings for dual- and tri-fuel models, and published runtime measurements. Each record links to its manufacturer source and shows the date we checked it. We have not physically tested these generators.
When a manufacturer publishes more than one runtime measurement, the calculator can use those points to estimate runtime at loads in between. Every result carries one of these labels:
- Manufacturer Published Runtime — your load and fuel amount match a figure the manufacturer published.
- Estimated from Manufacturer Data — calculated from the manufacturer's figures, for a load or fuel amount they didn't publish directly.
- Extrapolated — your load is outside the range the manufacturer published, so we adjusted the nearest figure with a general fuel-use curve. Treat these with extra caution.
- Planning Estimate — from Quick Estimate mode, using a generic curve rather than model-specific data.
